Reason for Visit: Filed various complaints but they hardly take any action
Review: I have had experience with IGP Complaint cell from IGP Nasir Durrani time during which it was an outstanding institution. I am calling it outstanding because you could rely on your complaint and IGP would personnely inquire status of various complaints. I have had a couple of success mainly because of IGP.
After IGP Durrani the complaint cell is just a telephone number, nothing else. Do not expect that they will take any action on your complaint. They do not follow standard procedures, they never record your statement and they dont follow time line. My best advice is if you have an issue with police, File a complaint with IGP Cell (though email or in person). They will not act on your complaint but you can than go to the court and get relief in form of 22-a or otherwise. It only use is when you go to court, you can give them your complaint and diary no that no action was taken on your complaint. Do not wait more than 2 weeks after your complaint.
If you are influential they will in fact act on your complaint, in that case the best bet is to meet DPO or RPO but if you are a layman, you will most likely be out of luck. Again the phone numbers are mostly for show off and khana puri.
